Accommodations

With the exception of overnight excursions or multiple-day hiking trips, all accommodations provided by Torngat Mountains Base Camp are located within the core footprint of Base Camp at the head of Saglek Fjord, and are positioned within the electric fence for safety. Whether you come as part of a group or as an independent traveler, Torngat Mountains Base Camp takes pride in providing a range of quality tent-style accommodations to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. Orientation to the Camp is provided, on arrival, and a variety of facilities, including kitchen, laundry and washrooms with hot showers are onsite. Hot meals are provided. Medical personnel are on staff at our basic medical facility and medical supplies are available 24/7.

We’ve thought of everything you need to make your adventure both safe and memorable. Local Inuit Bear Guards/Guides are on hand, and we are happy to provide logistics and planning support. Satellite phone communication is available for emergencies. Torngat Mountains Base Camp air transportation is provided by helicopter. As well, fuel is available (for purchase) for passing helicopters, planes, marine vessels, as well as for both gasoline and diesel engines.

Design Shelters

These insulated “soft-wall” houses are built on wooden platforms. They feature electricity as well as beds with soft feather duvet bedding. This accommodation sleeps 2-6 people, depending on the arrangement of the beds.

This is one of our most comfortable accommodations – a great “home away from home” to come back to from a day outside exploring the land.

InterShelters

These are the newest of our accommodations. They are insulated domes with electricity, heat, and include beds and bedding which provides a very comfortable accommodation. These accommodations sleep up to 2 people.
